About
Calculations for Caregivers2 builds on the basic dosing calculations covered in Calculations for Caregivers, basic level, to include IV calculations (flow rate, drip rate, infusion time, readjusting rates, and percentage of rate change). The course provides a brief review of basics of dosage calculation before introducing intravenous formulas and calculations emphasizing safe practice. Designed for those who do not identify as ‘math people,’ students work at their own pace through lessons that include interactive learning activities and culminate in self-assessment quizzes with instant feedback. Successful completion of a comprehensive final test results in a certificate of completion. Medication math covered is equivalent to the content generally required in second year nursing studies (IV calculations). Is this course the right fit for YOU? It is, if you have either completed Calculations for Caregivers (basic level), or completed your first pharmacology class at nursing school that provided basic dosage calculation and medication administration, or, you are very math-confident and have good skills with the metric system and conversion factors This course provides you with an opportunity to quickly review the essentials of medication calculation and administration (Section one) before launching into an introduction to intravenous therapy (Section two), the essential math formulas for calculating IV rate for either the electronic IV pump or gravity flow 'drip,' (Section three) and finally (Section four) the two math formulas for calculating infusion time and recalculating flow rates as well as figuring out the percentage of change required for that new rate. Sound daunting? Calculations for Caregivers, level two, takes you through the material in small lesson 'chunks' with learning activities to help you master the content step by step. You will have the ability to assess your understanding along the way and at the conclusion of the course. This will give y
